Engineering and Plan Approval Services include the co-ordination of engineering subcontractors, adjusting engineering and construction standards and checking engineering work with regard to cost and operational quality.

 

MPC Marine is in the position to perform:

 

  • all plan approval on behalf of owner according to the specification and the contract.
  • all pre-plan approval on behalf of owner regarding the rules and regulations
  • all plan approval activities together with class, safety authorities, national and international authorities.
  • incorporation of any remarks and requirements of any authority and to owners specific requirements and operation philosophies.

 

MPC Marine has a long experience in optimizing shipbuilding projects in the early definition phase as well as minimizing risks during the technical due diligence.

Reefer Container Vessels / ENVC Portugal

    MPC Marine developed and delivered the complete design package for these two Reefer Container Vessels, which represented a new concept for the combined transport of conventional reefer as well as RoRo and containerized cargo. The vessels were delivered in 2003/2004 for the trade between Israel and Southern Europe.

    MPC Marine delivered and financed the equipment built into these vessels and provided substantial on-site technical support for the shipyard ENVC in Vianna do Castello.

700 TEU Container Vessels / NASICO Vietnam

    This project was initiated in 2004 and characterized by the aim to assist NASICO in paving its way into the European market. MPC Marine had therefore developed a comprehensive training program for the Vietnamese yard personnel at a German shipyard.

    MPC Marine also defined the full contractual framework between owner, shipyard and MPC and fully financed the vessels through a German bank. MPC was also responsible to deliver the key equipments.

    A series of six vessels was ordered by sister company MPC Steamship and other German shipowners, of which four were delivered in 2009/2010.

    MPC Marine was responsible for plan approval and supervision on the shipyard as representative of the owners.

    MPC Marine developed this project in 2007, at a time when available building berths were a scarce commodity. At time of signing shipbuilding contracts the shipyard was a green field and MPC Marine managed to assist the shipyard in a way that enabled them to build up its infrastructure while in parallel constructing the vessels.

    As of October 2010 the yard is fully operational and two units have already been successfully delivered. MPC Marine was the driving factor in developing and managing this project. Apart from supervision for the owner, technical assistance to the shipyard was the prime focus.

    This series of four vessels has so far been the latest in a long lasting cooperation with this shipyard and this shipowner. The vessels were delivered in 2008/2009

    MPC performed the complete equipment procurement for the shipyard and provided financing of the supplies.

Semisubmersible Exploration Platform / Gulf Piping Co. Abu Dhabi

    This project was taken up by MPC Marine in 2006 in cooperation with Brazilian partners. MPC Marine developed the project in a joint effort with its sister MPC Capital and was responsible for setting up the project management structure, in particular the technical supervision of the construction. Furthermore MPC Marine was in charge to procure and deliver key equipments for the owners side.

    This platform was the biggest single asset ever placed by a funding house with a total investment volume of around 700 Mio USD. The rig is scheduled to start operation for Petrobras in Brazilian waters in 2011.

    These vessels were ordered by MPC Capital and MPC Marine was in charge of delivering the complete equipment and major parts of the material at a guaranteed fixed price. Due to its long lasting experience in this sector MPC Marine was in a position to do that.

    In total six vessels were constructed under supervision of the MPC Marine site-team and successfully delivered between 2005 and 2006. This is again an example were the synopsis between the MPC companies has proven to be a winning combination.

6.000 DWT Ro-Ro Vessels / Alexandria Shipyard Egypt

    In this project MPC Marine acted as a joint contractor together with Alexandria Shipyard. Two vessels were delivered to the Government of Egypt between 2004 and 2006.

    MPC Marine was responsible for the full detailed design and the delivery of all equipments and the majority of the materials used. At times more than 30 people from MPC were on-site in order to ensure a smooth construction process and proper interfacing between design-, construction- and procurement activities. The Government of Egypt is until today procuring the spare parts for these vessels through MPC Marine.
